The Staff
Our Teacher

Dr. Alan Streett
The Presidents’ Class
has had several outstanding teachers since its inception.
Our present teacher is Dr. Alan Streett, who also serves as
Professor of Evangelism and Pastoral Ministry at The
Criswell College. His weekly lessons are dynamic,
verse-by-verse expositions of the Scriptures.
Alan and his family
moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1983, from their home near
Baltimore, Maryland. While attending the University of
Baltimore, where he earned his B.A. (1969), Alan heard the
gospel for the first time through the witness of a
psychology professor. His interest sufficiently pricked, he
began attending evening classes at the Baltimore School of
the Bible. Although not yet converted, Alan applied for
admission to Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.
During his last year, he came under the conviction of sin
and cried out for Christ to save him. He earned his M. Div.
degree in 1972.
Upon graduation, Alan
served as pastor of two churches before accepting a position
as Executive Director of Hampstead Youth For Christ, which
gave him valuable experience in leading a parachurch
organization. Along with his wife Lynn, he founded Streett
Meetings, Inc., a faith-based ministry, which enabled him to
conduct evangelistic crusades, organize a community Bible
class, and publish materials on the dangers of the cults.
He simultaneously served as Associate Director of the
Baltimore Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, an evangelistic outreach
to the city’s business and political leaders.
Because of his
position in the Christian community, Alan was instrumental
in bringing a Billy Graham crusade to Baltimore, and served
on the General and Finance committees. Dr. Graham asked
Alan to write a fifty-page briefing on the history and
cultural milieu of Baltimore, designed to introduce the
Graham team to the Baltimore area.
Alan was invited to
teach at The Criswell College after earning his Ph.D. degree
from the California Graduate School of Theology (1982). His
dissertation on evangelistic preaching was published and
became a textbook for Bible colleges and seminaries. It is
still in print and has been translated into Spanish.
Dr. Streett’s passion
is classroom teaching. He is an experienced author, radio
host, cult researcher, church planter, and conference
speaker. He was commissioned by the Billy Graham
Evangelistic Association (BGEA) to produce a series of tapes
on sharing the gospel with cultists that have been used to
train BGEA telephone counselors around the world.
Alan is married to
Lynn Fenby Streett. Lynn, a former registered nurse, is
working on her M.A. degree at The Criswell College. They
have three grown sons. Aaron, a graduate of the University
of Texas Law School, serves as a Law Clerk on the DC Circuit
Court of Appeals. Daniel is completing his M.A. at Yale
University Divinity School and plans to work on his Ph.D.
Andrew, a graduate of Hillsdale College (MI), starts his M.
A. in the fall.
